The Title

Well, it’s taken me a long time to convince my husband to let us start a blog. The idea of a “diary” that anyone and everyone can read is kind of strange, I guess. I think I finally convinced him by telling him he could choose the title of our blog if he would just let me start one! Thus, the name of our blog: Hut Sweet Hut. Not one I would have chosen. Believe me. But…Hut Sweet Hut it is. 

Kind of a confusing name for a blog unless you know a couple things about us, so I’ll explain. For the past couple of years, God has been changing Aaron and me. A lot. We are beginning to see that everything we have been working for in this life is temporary. We have been working for a nice house in the country, security, and comfort. But our God calls us to something different than that—He calls us to live for the eternal. He calls us to radical obedience to His Word. And when we read the Great Commission, we feel confident that Jesus is speaking to us, because we are His disciples. And specifically, we are feeling called to go to an unreached people group—a group who has no access to the Word of God because of language and/or cultural barriers.

So all of that is to say that since we are heading into tribal missions, chances are, we will live in a hut of some sort someday. Hence, the name of our blog that my husband chose. And if you know Aaron personally, it probably doesn’t surprise you at all that he insisted on this name for our blog.

We would love for you to follow our blog journey through marriage, parenting, growing our family, missionary training, and everyday life over the next few years! 

And since I’m not much one for posts without pictures, here’s a picture of our daughter Ivy Elena—such a blessing from God! She’s showing off her new skill—sitting all by herself!
