What Are We Doing Here? (Part 6)

This post will be the LAST one in the series I have written over the past two years about the amazing courses we have had the privilege to take at New Tribes Bible Institute. The truths we have learned from the Word have changed our lives

Here are the classes that I already wrote about in previous posts:

In my first post, I wrote about: Biblical FoundationsEvangelismBibliologyPentateuchHermeneuticsActs and the Roman World, and Islam.

In my second post, I wrote about: Old Testament HistoryProverbsThe Love of GodProphetsPsalmsEzra/Nehemiah/EstherIntro to NTM, and Theology.

In my third post, I wrote about: Life of ChristActs1 CorinthiansPartnership Development, Bible Basis of Missions, Discipleship, Spiritual Warfare, Hermeneutics II, Christology, and Anthropology/Harmartiology.

In my fourth post, I wrote about: RomansGalatiansMissions in Church HistoryAngelologyFamily RelationshipsRoman Catholicism, and Perspectives.

And in my fifth post, I wrote about: 1 & 2 Thessalonians, Ephesians, 2 Corinthians, Hebrews, Pneumatology, 1 & 2 Peter, Soteriology, James, Jude, Phillipians, Public Speaking, Eschatology, Pastoral Epistles, Christian Life, and Hermeneutics Practicum.

Since the last past, we have taken several more classes:

  • Prayer Module: I took this elective, and I was so glad that I did. It was all about (you guessed it), prayer. I wrote this post about some of the truths that I learned during this class.
  • Colossians/Philemon: Aaron took this class, and it just added more truth to what we have already learned in the other epistles as to how we are supposed to be living this Christian life.
  • Ecclesiology: This class was a study of the Church. I had never really considered before the importance and distinction of the Church throughout the entire New Testament. My sister put some of her thoughts down about this class on her blog, here.
  • I, II, III John: If you read my blog at all, you probably know from this post and this one that Aaron and I were blown away by this class. We learned so much about abiding in Christ, walking in the light, and how to test ourselves to see if (as believers) we are in fellowship with God.
  • Daniel/Revelation: We are currently taking this class, and it is extremely interesting. Daniel and Revelation have so much overlap with each other that it is impossible to fully understand one without the other. We are learning tons of new things in this class, since Daniel and Revelation are both books that we had never studied before.
  • Introduction to Tribal Missions I: This is the last class that we have yet to take at New Tribes Bible Institute. We will be travelling to Pennsylvania to NTM's Wayumi to take this course. We (our entire senior class, our kids, and several staff members from NTBI) will be leaving tomorrow morning, and we will arrive there tomorrow evening. We will then spend an entire week totally immersed in tribal missions training with sessions such as: Animism, Language, Culture, Ethnos, Evangelism, Bible Challenge, Indigenous Church, Translation, and Teamwork. It will give us a small taste of what our next year and a half of training will be like at New Tribes Mission's "Missionary Training Center" in Missouri. We are very excited for Wayumi (and hoping that the eight+ hour car-trip goes well with our three kiddos), and you can expect a blog post about it when we return!
In all, we will have taken 53 courses here at New Tribes Bible Institute. Before we came here, I would have said that there isn't enough stuff to study in the Bible to take up that many courses. However, now that I know the Word a little better, I know the truth...that 5,000 courses still could not cover the depth of insight and knowledge that there is in the Word. These 53 courses have given us some more insight and knowledge into the Word...but more than that, they have served to increase our appetites to study the Bible for the rest of our lives.

At ABC I took Intro to End Times and it changed my life! Studying that actually made the Bible "make sense and all fit together" for me. Before and after just 1 year there I would have said the same thing you did in your last paragraph (minus the 53 classes part ;).
