Second Trimester Lessons

Wow...another trimester is over for me and our baby boy. I can't believe that in three short months (or less) we're going to have three kids. Three babies. (Well, technically, we already do, but I mean out of the womb.) :) We are so excited and blessed!

So just like I learned some lessons during my first trimester, I have learned some things during my second trimester that I didn't necessarily know before I was pregnant.

1. You can never use too many pillows when trying to get a good night's sleep while pregnant. This is the collection of pillows I currently use each night to strategically prop my different limbs up different ways in order to attempt to find a position that doesn't make my back or hips hurt like crazy.

2. A middle name is much more difficult to choose than a first name (for us, anyway). A first name, we have decided on. A middle name...not so much yet.

3. A one-year-old does not get the concept of a "baby in mommy's belly." I'm pretty sure she now thinks that bellybuttons are called "babies." Too young to get the concept :)

4. Although cravings seem to stop after the first trimester, appetite in general continues to increase. Rapidly.

5. It gets harder and harder to hold a baby on your hip when your stomach is growing, making your hips more and more non-existant.

6. We have a very active baby. So active lately, that his movements sometimes cause me to feel sick after 10 or 15 minutes of nonstop kicking, poking, and (what feels like) doing flips.

7. Our baby has his nights and days mixed up. He normally moves around all night long...and then lays still most of the day. Hopefully I'll have that reversed a few weeks after birth with my trusty Babywise methods. :)

8. Strangers are much more apt to talk to you when you are pregnant. They always say the same thing, though... "Aww, when are you due?"

9. I cannot squeeze through tight spaces like I used to be able to. This one should seem obvious, but I keep forgetting. I try to fit between the back of a chair and a wall or through a door that's not open very far...and I hit my stomach. And then I remember, "Oh yeah...I'm a lot wider than I used to be."

10. The second trimester is my favorite so far :) Better than the first, that's for sure!

I love all the pictures of you that you take each week! What a good idea...I wish I would have thought to do that! I also loved the comment that Ivy thinks bellybuttons are called "babies"--so cute! And the babywise comment was funny:) Can't wait to meet my new nephew!!

I just realized that I use way too many exclamation points...I noticed that when I read my comment:)

Oh my goodness...sleeping at night always made my hips hurt too! I had to have a pillow between my legs or I was miserable. Eventually I could turn over in my sleep and keep that pillow right where I needed it. :) You are absolutely adorable!!!!

Just for fun, when a stranger wants to know when you are due, tell them eight months ago. Bellybuttons aren't babies?

Consider yourself lucky. I can't squeeze between the wall and the chair 12 months out of the year :)
