One year ago today, at around noon, my cell phone rang. It was a number that I didn't recognize, and we were eating lunch down at Nathan and Rachel's apartment. I don't like answering my phone if I don't know who it is (this annoys Aaron!) so I said, "Eh...I'm not going to answer it." Aaron, mildly annoyed, said, "Give the phone to me...I'll answer it." I am SO incredibly thankful that he did. Because it was Karen from our Utah adoption agency on the phone, calling to tell us that a baby boy had just been born, and that his birthmother had chosen us to adopt him. She instructed us to get on the first plane possible to Salt Lake City, and we did just that. We were in Utah by that evening! To read a little more about our adoption of Israel, click here.

We are overwhelmed by God's grace toward us in allowing us to raise our Israel Ri. He is such a blessing to us! Happy first birthday, Israel!
