This year, our Christmas celebrations are very spread out...which is great! I like not having to go to multiple family Christmases in the same day, and I also like for the celebrations to last longer!
So last Friday night, we celebrated Christmas with just our "little" family--just the five of us.
Earlier in the day, I told Ivy that we would be celebrating Christmas that evening, and I showed her which presents were her's. She then spent a good part of the day standing beside the Christmas tree with her two presents, just like this :) She was very excited!
We had a variety of appetizers for supper (that's a tradition that Aaron and I have done since we were first married seven years ago),
and took a family picture by the Christmas tree before we opened presents.
We don't really do many presents with just our little family, because we have such generous extended family members who get us more than we need! But we did get our kids a couple small gifts (I mean really small--like fruit snacks), and they had so much fun opening them. Well, except Abel, who just chewed on his until Ivy finally opened them for him.
We also attempted to get a picture of our three kids together. This is what we got.
It went slightly better when we let them hold their presents for the picture.
Aaron and I watched Home Alone after the kids went to bed. That's another tradition we have done for the past seven Christmases. It was such a fun evening, and only the first of MANY Christmas celebrations to come!

Amazing how kids can appreciate even small gifts.
