When my friend Shelly from church found out that we are moving to New Tribes Bible Institute in August, she was so excited, because she and her husband Cory used to live in Jackson! Cory and Shelly invited Aaron and me to go to Jackson with them and their three awesome kids last Sunday, and they showed us around the city and told us all the best places to eat, hike, play putt putt, sled, shop, walk, and hang out! We had so much fun, and we SO appreciated our own personal tour of the city.
We started out at a huge old-fashioned ice cream shop called The Parlour.
It felt like we were in an old movie from the 50’s or something!
Aaron and I split a delicious parfait
and ate it in about 5 minutes!
Next, Cory and Shelly drove us through the whole city, showing us all their favorite places they used to go. We ended up at a fun park where we played putt putt.
The four guys played together and kept score…like guys usually do…
and us three girls played together and didn’t keep score.
We were having a great time until a huge storm came through, forcing us to seek shelter in the tiny building where you rent the putters and balls!
After that, we drove outside the city to a lake and a beach-front restaurant called The Beach Bar. We had a sort of odd combination of food: clam chowder
and pizza with real shredded parmesan.
Just like Cory and Shelly told us, it was really good!
After supper, we went to a nature preserve where there are lots of trails.
We went on a trail
that ended up being very very muddy!
Shelly's shoes got stuck in the mud,
so some of us just decided to go barefoot.
Then we had to try all sorts of things to get the mud off of us before we got back in the van,
and even though it started to rain,
it was a lot of fun!
Thank you SO MUCH Cory and Shelly, for spending a whole day helping us get to know our soon-to-be new home! We had an awesome time with you and your kids.
