Impromptu Roadtrip

We were SO excited to get the news last Saturday that our good friends Frieddy and Johanna had their baby! On Sunday morning at about 8:30, we decided to drive up to Michigan  to see them. We knew we had to be back home by 5:00 because we had plans that evening, but we calculated the drive time and the time we would spend at the hospital, and we thought we could probably make it.

So we got the kids packed up,

and set out.

The kids were great travelers! Ivy is SO great at keeping herself occupied, and both boys slept almost the entire five hours (two and a half each way).

We stopped for lunch on the way,

and arrived at the hospital about 1:00 in the afternoon. It was so great to meet little Ben Elliot! I love that Frieddy and Johanna are going to call him his entire name: Ben Elliot (as opposed to just calling him Ben). It's crazy how big Abel seems now at eight weeks old compared to him!

He is their first baby, and it is going to be so much fun getting to see them experience the joys of parenting this coming year! :)

We left the hospital around 2:30. All three kids slept,

and we made it home JUST in time for our 5:00 plans. :) A very full and very fun day!

The picture of Ivy redaing the book with her sunglasses on is a classic.
