As soon as he was done, Israel ran to where Aaron had been splitting the wood, and began to "split" some wood of his own.
Ivy joined in after awhile, too.
It was SO cute, and Aaron and I laughed about it.
But the more I thought about it, the more the gravity of it hit me.
They really are watching us.
They really are looking up to us.
They really do imitate us.
And that's scary sometimes.
Does my life look like a life that I want my three precious children to imitate? Uh...no, not all the time.
But praise God that He desires my sanctification, and I can depend on Him to continue to work in me as I rest in Him and lean on Him.
And I pray that Aaron and I would continually point our kids to Christ as the One worth looking up to.
This whole topic reminded me of this song called "Just Like You" by Lecrae:
I love the line at the end: "They say You came for the lame...I'm the lamest. I broke my life, but You said You'll erase it...I'll take it."
Praising God today for some gentle reminders of the fact that I need to be looking to and leaning on Him, so that the three little souls in my home can see Him when they look to me.
