Some more explanation of the situation
The gender: We don't know!
The birth mom: She is 17 years old and Caucasian. She lives in Missouri.
The due date: TODAY!!! But no signs of labor yet.
The tentative plan: We will travel (a few hours) to the hospital when she goes into labor. We will spend as much time there as possible in the 48 hours before the baby is discharged. Our kids will probably not go with us. We will have someone watch them here at home, and Aaron will probably go back and forth from the hospital to spend the night(s) with our kids. When the baby is discharged from the hospital, we will go to court for temporary custody. It will be several months after that until the adoption is finalized (this is how it worked with our other two adoptions as well), but the baby will be with us during that whole time.
The holiday plans: We won't be traveling back to Indiana for Christmas this weekend like we originally planned. After the baby is in our custody, we will have to wait for some paperwork to clear before we can leave the state. This usually takes one to two weeks. It will just depend on when the baby decides to arrive as to whether or not we will make it to Indiana for any of our Christmas break.
The feelings: We are feeling very excited, but also a little apprehensive. Adoptions can and sometimes do "fall through," but we are just trusting that whatever happens, that God is sovereign and we can always trust His plan. If this baby doesn't actually end up being "our" baby, then we know that God has us going through this process for some other purpose. We are leaning on Him and praying for contentment and patience. (I am also feeling rather sad about missing some family and friend Christmas celebrations, but I know that it will be worth it!)
The kids: Ivy, Israel, and Abel are all SUPER excited about a baby. They have been spending almost all of their time in the baby's nursery, playing with his/her toys, hanging out in his/her bed, and asking constant questions about him/her! (Well, it's mostly just Ivy asking the questions.) It is so much fun.
We're ready for you, Baby!! Please come soon!

Awww...so sad you won't be home for Christmas, but you are right. So worth it! I can't wait to meet her! (or him) :)
Wow, so exciting! I'll predict girl. And baby Jesus sounds like a great name choice. :)
Love everything about this post! You do such a great job at explaining.
Love and prayers!
Sarah
Disappointed that we won't see you guys and super bummed we won't be able to meet this little one anytime soon~ but it's just a small thing in the big scheme of life! Anxious to see how it all plays out!

Um...where are your gender predictions and name suggestions?!?! ;)
Hate to not have you here over Christmas, but it is only a couple of weeks. Your new son/daughter will be for a lifetime. Plus, we will have a delayed Christmas when we come to visit and help out.

Rachel--My gender prediction is a boy :) And I'm not going to give my names away ;)
Dad--Thanks for your comment! That makes me feel better to hear you say that!! :)
Praying all goes well and God's perfect timing is accomplished:) Glad HE has it under control. Yes, we will miss you, but God isn't making any mistakes here:) Even if things do "fall through" as your post says can happen, He still has HIS plan in action.
love you!

So excited for your family. Praying Gods will and that you will blend with this family that has so lovingly chosen you for their babies parents. Also praying for their broken hearts, that our God will reveal to them his perfect plan in choosing you and give them an undescribable peace! Hugs and love to you all.
So exciting, Jill!
Gender prediction - one or the other!!! We will miss you at Christmas, but more excited still to see the Father at work in all of your lives. Talk soon.
Love you
Grandpa Mike
